Outernet - A new concept

A new information age that changed....or I would say revolutionized our lives was "The Internet".
This made our lives much easy....especially benefited a large number of students by helping them find  their answers to assignment questions within a fraction of seconds... :P

The internet carries an extensive range of information and the users have excess to resources that were out of reach before .......in a way it provides us with unlimited knowledge. The Internet empowers better decision-making and a more efficient use of time if you find the right tool or connect to the right people. If you are able to read this now you are already benefited by it.But still there is a large population(around 40 % )which is not able to access the Internet.

Imagine being able to access it from anywhere without having to worry about the cost and accessibility. The day is not far as :-

A US company is planning to build an "Outernet"  which is a global network of cube satellites broadcasting internet data to all the people on the planet for free. The idea is to offer free internet access to all people, regardless of location, bypassing filtering or other means of censorship, according to the New York based non-profit organization , Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF). The Outernet aspires to beam free Wi-fi to the entire world by launching numerous small satellites into space.

Outernet will use a network of miniature satellites floating in the space to broadcast data back to the earth.Content will be transmitted from the earth to the space with the use of CubeSat satellites ( A CubeSat is a type of miniaturized satellite for space research that usually has a volume of exactly one liter) distributing the data in a continuous loop. CubeSats are a class of research spacecraft called nano-satellites. The cube-shaped satellites are approximately four inches long, have a volume of about one quart and weigh about 3 pounds.  It aims to launch hundreds of cubestat into the Earth’s lower orbit as most artificial satellites are found in the low earth orbits (LEO).

Outernet's immediate goal is to provide the entire world with broadcast data much like a cable TV and not complete access to the web, for example users will have access only to certain news and educational content, communication and updates during a natural disaster. Outernet will increase opportunities for everyone to access digital news and information, allowing greater access to opportunity and education than anything that currently exists.
Even Google’s Project Loon is essentially no different from Outernet. While the Outernet will use cube like satellites to broadcast data, Project Loon aims to use a network of balloons to beam wireless Internet.
