Majboor Song from Soulmates

Image
The song with a French touch is as pure and magical as the performances of the two leads in this series. I enjoyed the series the first time I watched it. I re-watched it today and I am here to write about it. A very practical script, no melodrama, and simple yet brilliant. The conversations are just as real as in real life. No made-up dialogues there. This series is peaceful and calm. It's a quiet and calm bonding between two people. It's like going through pages of a good novel. The pauses are so good. It all adds up to the charm of the whole series.

Feminism and Pseudo Feminism

Image
In simple words, feminism is  about all genders having equal rights and opportunities . It’s about leveling the playing field between genders, and ensuring that diverse women and girls have the same opportunities in life available to boys and men. Feminist movements have advocated and continue to advocate for the rights of women, including the right to vote, hold public office, work, earn fair wages, equal pay and reduce the gender pay gap, own land, obtain employment, have equal rights within marriage, enter into contracts and have maternity leave. Feminists also work to ensure access to legal abortions and social inclusion and to protect women and girls from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. But sadly, a new type of feminism called pseudo-feminism is emerging amongst the people. Pseudo-feminists tend to generalize all gender accordingly and want to correct all the injustices inflicted on women, often by lashing out and demeaning at men. In the process of recklessly acc

Infibulation- A horror

In a world where talking about Menstruation is still considered taboo, Female Genital Mutilation goes unnoticed. Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or another injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. Infibulation is a type of Female Genital Mutilation. It is the practice of excising the clitoris and labia of a girl or woman and stitching together the edges of the vulva to prevent sexual intercourse. It is traditional in some north-eastern African cultures but is highly controversial.  It is the process where the clitoral hood is completely or partially removed and then the vagina is stitched leaving behind a small hole for the girl to menstruate and urinate. After that, the legs are tied with rope for 30 to 40 days so that the wound can heal and the girl is not allowed to move for the same reasons. The stitches are opened on her wedding night by her husband so that he can

Learning Re-defined.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic since last year has drastically disrupted the overall education system across the globe. It's still doing the same.  As schools and colleges moved to online classes in a hurry and in an unplanned way,  there was a significant impact on the education of students with disabilities. During the initial phase of the nationwide lockdown, many were not able to attend online classes due to a lack of guidelines and the absence of tools to facilitate students with visual, hearing, or specific learning disabilities. Moreover, the teachers and professors are not equipped with the latest technology and not every student has access to the internet. The stark reality that hit us was the lack of academic infrastructure for students with disabilities in Indian universities. They had to immediately deal with various challenges. The pandemic brought to light the most critical gap which was lack of access to technology and devices that could have eased the proces

Stay Calm!

Image
According to research, mindfulness can deliver greater productivity, enhanced workplace satisfaction, and problem-solving skills. It can help you stay calm in extreme situations. It is also linked to improved creativity and improved capacity for concentration and deep thought. The regular practice of mindfulness can lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, and induce sleep and regulate appetite, improve your respiratory health, and boost the immune system. If it is followed regularly and in a disciplined way, it can reduce levels of harmful stress hormones like cortisol in the body. So, as an employee, you would take fewer sick leaves. It helps in treating anxiety and depression and is more effective than drug-based procedures. Mindfulness enhances an individual's well-being and improves relationships and increases compassion. So, start meditating. Illustration: https://www.instagram.com/p/COPbCnknczb/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Financial Literacy and Women

Gender equality in the sphere of both economic and financial turf is increasingly on the rise at both the national and international levels. With this scenario, the financial literacy of women and girls should not take backstage and should be seen as a way to improve their financial empowerment, opportunities, and well-being. This has been acknowledged by the G20 Leader’s Declaration in June 2012, as well as part of a wider horizontal OECD project on gender equality.  Women around the globe are known for their outstanding management skills and multitasking in running a home and should not be dependent on men or anybody in taking financial decisions for investments or retirement plans, or insurance. As women make up around half the world’s population their participation and contribution are a must for any country’s development.  Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing
