Story 2 - Goodbye!

Image
Looking forward to a 28-hour journey, Arya had moved to the top berth to lie down and watch the unfinished movie on her laptop with headphones on. She usually doesn't start conversations on trains and keeps to herself. The right berth was already occupied by a couple and their daughter. So, she got really comfortable and dozed off to sleep after some time.   She felt the train halt and immediately woke up and checked her surroundings. The couple and their daughter had already left the train. She could hear someone talking. "Yes, maa, I have found the berth and I got the food too", the boy at the lower berth said. He was on a call. He had a good physique and his voice was good.  After some time more people arrived and he moved to his side of the top berth.   "Can I plug my laptop here?" he asked. "I am sorry?" Arya said, removing her earphones. "Can I plug my laptop here?" he said again. "Yeah sure," Arya said unplugging the char...

Story 1- Marigolds

Image
Ciara planted marigolds every winter without fail and it was larger than any regular variety that grew. She had a different glow on her face when she looked at the garden full of marigolds. She loved them. This was the first weekend since Ciara passed away and the only thing I can think about was blooming marigolds. So, I went to the cemetery and tied a ribbon on her grave this morning. I came back and as I strolled through the bushes, waiting patiently, for the marigolds to grow again, I saw Arun walking towards me. “Can we head for brunch?” Arun said looking down on me. "It won't take much time and it's on me." As we drove away and waited at a red signal intersection, a few meters away from the cemetery, I saw small children selling roses. "I hate roses". "What?" "I hate roses", I repeated. "They don't serve roses where we are going to eat. Can we proceed now?" Arun said, being his usual sarcasti...

Lyrics of "Tham Ja Zindagi - Girl in the city"

I love this song. I hope you will like it too. Tham ja zindagi  Lambi daud hai, thak jayegi tu  Ab manzil door hai  Wadein jo kiye the khud se  Poore honge muskil se  Ghayal ho gayi hai par hari toh nahi  Agar magar tujh ko lagta hai darr  Bheed mein tu akeli nahi hai Ahista se chal Thokar khayi hai Bachpan se girte padte  Himat aayi hai,  Wadein jo kiye the khud se  Poore honge muskil se  Jahan dag-magayegi, khud ko payegi wahi  Phir bhi agar tujhko lagta hai darr  Bheed mein tu akeli nahi hai.... Iss bheed mein, iss bheed mein.. Kadam dag-maga jae toh girne na dena  Rastein bhatak jaaye  Toh manzil dikha dena(3) Bheed mein..

Action Speak louder than words

"If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman." - Margaret Thatcher I am sure everyone has heard this quote many times and I think it still holds its truth. Sometimes we need a friend to help us explain everything that is going wrong in our lives. We get all caught up in the words and forget to value an individual’s actions. All the sweet things, gestures, perfect comment in the perfect moment are just web of lies unless they are able to walk their talk. Do not believe mere words, anyone can blurt out anything they don’t even mean. They would probably not even remember what they spoke too. (Has this happened to you?) But at times there are only words that you can count on. We choose to ignore the actions and believe the person. This can lead to a painful and suffering situation for the other person if the words were just blurted out. This can be a family member, a colleague or a friend. It further depends on how emotionally atta...

Stages Of Life

All of out there might be aware of the stages in an individual's life. So, it's not something new, but the readers reading this article will be of different age groups and it will be fun to throw some light on this topic. In our Hindu Culture, human life is believed to comprise four stages. These are called "ashramas" and every person should ideally go through each of these stages:  "Brahmacharya" or the Student Stage "Grihastha" or the Householder Stage "Vanaprastha" or the Hermit Stage "Sannyasa" or the Wandering Ascetic Stage But there is so much more than this. In our 1st stage we are born helpless. We learn by observing others. We learn to walk, talk, speak in the same way as our parents do or we try to blend in with the surroundings. So we develop social and physical skills at this age by watching others in our surroundings. The goal is to teach us how to function within society so that we can be autonomous, s...

Suicides

Why do people try to kill themselves? They are depressed, made a mistake, not able to handle pain, frustrated or are simply psychotic. Each one can be a possibility. Depression, without question, is the most common reason people commit suicide. Severe depression can lead to suffering as well as the belief that escape from it is hopeless. The pain of existence often becomes too much to bear. The state wraps up one's thinking, allowing ideas like "Everyone would all be better off without me" to make rational sense. The individual should not be blamed for falling prey to such distorted thoughts any more than a heart patient should be blamed for experiencing chest pain: it's simply the nature of their disease. We should all seek to recognize its presence in our close friends and loved ones. Often people suffer with it silently, planning suicide without anyone ever knowing. Despite making both parties uncomfortable, inquiring directly about suicidal thoughts in m...
