The Importance of Logic in Science and Technology

Introduction In the realm of philosophy and scientific inquiry, the relationship between logic and science has long been a subject of interest and debate. While some may argue that there is no necessary connection between the two, it is essential to recognize the significant role that logic plays in shaping scientific knowledge and advancements. In this article, we will explore the interplay between logic, science, and modernity, drawing insights from various renowned philosophers and thinkers. Logic and Scientific Knowledge Logic, as a discipline, is concerned with the principles of valid reasoning and inference. It provides a framework for evaluating arguments, identifying fallacies, and ensuring coherence in our thinking. While logic itself may not generate new scientific knowledge, it serves as a critical tool for scientists to analyze and validate their findings. The Hungarian philosopher Ágnes Heller, in her book A Theory of Modernity, emphasizes the relevance of science and tech...

Instagram Yoga

From being mocked and laughed at, to being scrutinized by the media, yoga has endured endless judgment. Finally, in the 21st century, yoga has come to dominate the culture of wellness in Western society, specifically in the United States. Love uncovers the story of the media's portrayal from times when "yoga has been feared, loathed, mocked, kicked to the fringes of society, associated with sexual promiscuity, criminal fraud, and runaway immigration" to currently a time of extreme attraction and lucrative business. Today, more than 15 million Americans practice yoga (Statistics Brain, 2015), and more than 300 million people have an Instagram account (Statista, 2015). The prominence of this social media platform has become a central location for yogis to virtually share their favorite poses, sequences, and yogic philosophies. Yoga had transitioned from a countercultural practice to a pop culture phenomenon through yogic entrepreneurs. Pop culture has increased the demand...

Regular food habits and sleep are more important than diet and fitness fads

NOT MINE, FOUND WORTH SHARING ... The two most important needs and parameters for health and well-being are a good appetite and a sound sleep of eight hours. Sadly, both these are missing in today’s times. Irregular food habits and insufficient sleep are seen everywhere, leading to poor health in the later years. There were times when office-goers would leave home after an early lunch, which is almost non-existent these days; a hurried breakfast and a tiffin box with inadequate food is all one has during the course of the day. Dinners are being had late and the junk food, snacks and fries consumed during the day lead to appetite loss. Sleep gets delayed due to late dinners; anxiety impacts the next day's work. Even sportspersons who are young and active face trouble, at times. They have ample training facilities – gyms and equipment. Despite the availability of such facilities, the fitness of sportspersons, especially in cricket, presents a gloomy picture. The list of players gett...

Majboor Song from Soulmates

Image
The song with a French touch is as pure and magical as the performances of the two leads in this series. I enjoyed the series the first time I watched it. I re-watched it today and I am here to write about it. A very practical script, no melodrama, and simple yet brilliant. The conversations are just as real as in real life. No made-up dialogues there. This series is peaceful and calm. It's a quiet and calm bonding between two people. It's like going through pages of a good novel. The pauses are so good. It all adds up to the charm of the whole series.

Feminism and Pseudo Feminism

Image
In simple words, feminism is  about all genders having equal rights and opportunities . It’s about leveling the playing field between genders, and ensuring that diverse women and girls have the same opportunities in life available to boys and men. Feminist movements have advocated and continue to advocate for the rights of women, including the right to vote, hold public office, work, earn fair wages, equal pay and reduce the gender pay gap, own land, obtain employment, have equal rights within marriage, enter into contracts and have maternity leave. Feminists also work to ensure access to legal abortions and social inclusion and to protect women and girls from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. But sadly, a new type of feminism called pseudo-feminism is emerging amongst the people. Pseudo-feminists tend to generalize all gender accordingly and want to correct all the injustices inflicted on women, often by lashing out and demeaning at men. In the process of recklessly...

Infibulation- A horror

In a world where talking about Menstruation is still considered taboo, Female Genital Mutilation goes unnoticed. Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or another injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. Infibulation is a type of Female Genital Mutilation. It is the practice of excising the clitoris and labia of a girl or woman and stitching together the edges of the vulva to prevent sexual intercourse. It is traditional in some north-eastern African cultures but is highly controversial.  It is the process where the clitoral hood is completely or partially removed and then the vagina is stitched leaving behind a small hole for the girl to menstruate and urinate. After that, the legs are tied with rope for 30 to 40 days so that the wound can heal and the girl is not allowed to move for the same reasons. The stitches are opened on her wedding night by her husband so that he ...

Learning Re-defined.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic since last year has drastically disrupted the overall education system across the globe. It's still doing the same.  As schools and colleges moved to online classes in a hurry and in an unplanned way,  there was a significant impact on the education of students with disabilities. During the initial phase of the nationwide lockdown, many were not able to attend online classes due to a lack of guidelines and the absence of tools to facilitate students with visual, hearing, or specific learning disabilities. Moreover, the teachers and professors are not equipped with the latest technology and not every student has access to the internet. The stark reality that hit us was the lack of academic infrastructure for students with disabilities in Indian universities. They had to immediately deal with various challenges. The pandemic brought to light the most critical gap which was lack of access to technology and devices that could have eased the p...
