Addiction - Part 1

You just read the heading "ADDICTION" and probably are now thinking about drugs and alcohols.Most of the people after hearing addiction,for sure,  think about drug addiction.


This topic came up when I was having a casual conversation with my friend Reema ......We concluded that addictions can be of different types.To start with "FOOD" addiction........sounds funny....but its a real addiction and can lead to serious problems.

Food addiction is simply addiction to junk food in a similar way the drug addicts are addicted to drugs.You are drawn to food like a moth to a flame even you are not physically hungry.People who are addicted to food are often overweight or obese, or they suffer from addictive eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, or extreme calorie counting.
And there is no blood test to test that you are food addicted.....its your behavior that decides it.You often have this intense desire for certain foods, even when you are full and you start eating it, you find yourself eating much more than you were supposed to and You are left with excessively stuffed stomach.Even you know that your eating habits are not healthy and it can harm you you continue eating,you feel guilty but continue eating.You try to quit it ,you make excuses,set up rules and guideline,hide it from people,but still continue to eat.You are totally into food and unable to control yourself.

Food addiction can cause physical harm. It can lead serious diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, arthritis and depression.

You should and you must quit it before it harms your life.It makes you unhappy, lowers your self esteem and makes you dull.This cannot be simply ignored.

It's just like drug addiction.If a person who was a alcoholic was asked to take a sip of beer ......it would definitely lead to consequences.Similar is the case with smokers,drug addicts etc.Food addicts are no different......they might take a bite of a tasty cake,a sip of coke,one or two chips.....and are back again :P Most food addicts will never be able to eat junk food like regular people. That’s the cold, hard truth.The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will recover.


Junk food are hard to ignore as they are everywhere.you eat it with your friends,family etc. but you need to deal with it.You just need to make a firm decision...go on making lists about what to eat and what to not.It's just a healthy diet plan that you need.Stick to your decisions.Ignore the cravings that come along.Think about how you will feel after you have lost weight,you will be full of energy,you will look happy and fresh.Try and eliminate it from your lives.Stay healthy,eat healthy and live life happily!!!!!!
